Review of the Game Svara (Svarka)

Svara (Svarka) is a card game that is played with a deck of 32 cards, ranging from 7 to Ace. The game requires a minimum of two players, offering a total of 4960 possible combinations.

Rules

• Each player is dealt three cards in a clockwise direction. Every card combination holds a specific numerical value, and the winner is determined by the highest points earned.
• The point values are assigned according to the following rules:
  1. Cards 7 to 9 grant 7 to 9 points, respectively.
  2. Cards 10, J, Q, K award 10 points each.
  3. Aces yield 11 points.
  4. Cards of the same color are totaled. For example:
     • Q♦, K♦, 10♠ sum up to 20 points.
     • 10♠, 8♠, K♥ add up to 18 points.
  5. Aces can be combined irrespective of color, with two Aces worth 22 points and three Aces worth 33 points.
  6. 7♣ is known as "Ceco Jonchev, Chechak, Chotora, Shpoka, or Yoncho" and can be combined with any other card for 11 points.
  7. Getting three 7s gives the highest score of 34 points in the game.
  8. For triples of any other card, the total points equal three times the card's value. For example:
     • Three 8s amount to 24 points (3 x 8 = 24).
     • Three Queens give 30 points (3 x 10 = 30).

Examples

• 7♥, 9♦, 9♣ total 9 points (the lowest hand).
• 10♠, 10♦, 10♣ sum up to 30 points.
• 8♣, K♥, 9♦ give a total of 10 points.
• K♥, 9♥, Q♣ yield 19 points.
• Q♣, Q♥, 9♦ score a total of 10 points.
• A♠, A♦, 10♣ amount to 22 points.
• 8♠, A♦, 7♣ also add up to 22 points.

Betting

• Players place an ante bet before receiving their cards.
• The player left of the dealer makes announcements before seeing their cards and can make a blind bet.
• If a player places a blind bet, the subsequent player can double it.
• If a player skips the blind bet, then no new blind bets are accepted subsequently (blind bets are optional).
• Once all players receive their cards, they place their bets.
• If there was a blind bet made previously, the following player must at least double that bet.
• If a player who placed a blind bet wants to peek at other players' cards, they must pay the bet amount.
• If no one covers a blind bet and it remains unpaid, the last player who made a blind bet wins that round.
• The player with the highest points wins. In case of tied scores among two or more players, it results in SVARA - leading to a new game with pooled bets from the prior round where new players can join by paying an entrance fee.
